What have you done?
Is creating a list in December of what you've accomplished something you do annually?
This is a feel-good exercise that puts me in a position to mentally checkmark the year that's just passed so I can move into the new year with a clean slate.
I'm sure you've done this at various times if not annually.
But have you ever created a list of your accomplishments and achievements from your whole life?
Don't be overwhelmed, it's totally doable!
This exercise is the first list you would create if you joined my 6-week program called A Life Review Journey.
You can do this alone, with a small group of people or with a coach so it doesn't feel like such a monumental task.
When I created my list, I was amazed at how much I had actually accomplished in my life. I was able to see themes of achievements and it became very clear what my values were and how they changed over the decades.
Mid-Life
It's good to do a life review when are just past mid-life, when you're at a "starting over" point for whatever reason, or when you are trying to figure out what your next move is going to be in retirement.
Are ready for a life review?
In that first list of accomplishments and achievements, you should also write down all the notable experiences you had that may have moved you emotionally or spiritually.
For example, it wasn't an achievement, but it was an amazing experience in my life when I was allowed to be present at the birth of my three granddaughters. It changed me in a way I can't express in words. It was a spiritual experience.
As a participant in the program, you are instructed to create a different list on a different topic, each week for six weeks.
Embarking on a life review can feel overwhelming but it's not when it's broken down into these manageable steps. And when you go through it weekly with a cohort of others going through the same thing, we hold you accountable and can be a witness to all you've done.
We learn together, grow together, and gain amazing insights from each other.
As you focus on a different topic/list, you get to heal parts of your psyche that have been holding onto things which have weighed you down. Often, you can release emotional blocks and free up your energy.
Each week, when a new module opens, you'll watch an 8-minute video, download the worksheet, and create your list.
Once you complete a list, your subconscious will continue to work on it over the coming days and things will bubble up that you can add to your list. It often happens that the Universe will send you signs that you're on the right track.
The group shares are just amazing!
We talk about our fears of the future and we discuss our thoughts on death and dying. We talk about ways to let go of regrets and resentments. We practice forgiveness.
I've witnessed emotional transformations from clients who have done this work.
Moving into the future is so much easier when the weight of the world is off your shoulders.
Consider doing a life review. Is the timing right for you?
The cost is low yet the rewards are high.

Have questions?
Feel free to book time with me on my calendar to discuss. Or email me if you can't find a time.
I have brought several people through this journey with 1:1 coaching if you can't join the group but don't want to do it solo.
If you don't feel a calling, at least do that yearly list for yourself. What have you done in 2023 that you feel good about? What would you change in 2024?
Then hit reply and send me your insights. I'd love to know.

P.S. Writing down your accomplishments is NOT an exercise to beat yourself up over if you didn't reach all your goals. This year I didn't achieve nearly as much as I set out to do. In fact, I spent many weeks in bed this year with the flu, Covid, and recently whooping cough. I've recognized that it is an accomplishment, for me, to slow down, enjoy more peace in my days, and spend time doing nothing at times except reflecting. Be kind to yourself.
